Lena Bio:
Lena has just returned from a world tour with Brazouka, the first internationally touring zouk dance company. She was the only American dancer in this eclectic company of Brazilians and Europeans. She played a soloist role of contemporary dance as well as zouk, lambazouk, samba de gafiera, and samba no pe.
She was first introduced to Zouk Lambada in 2009 when she met Shani Mayer in Los Angeles. She loved the new challenge of dancing by follow and lead, which has lead to a passion for a dance that was unlike anything she had felt previously. She continued to study from many international instructors, including Mari Hodges, Pablo Schmoller, Romina Hidalgo, and Leo Bruno from Brazil. She also attended the Berg’s International Zouk Lambada Congress in 2011 and 2013 held in the birthplace of the dance, Porto Seguro, Brazil.

Lena was trained in classical and contemporary ballet, jazz and modern dance since the age of 7 across the U.S., Europe and Japan including;

Fumie Kanai Modern Ballet School, Tokyo, Japan
Westside Ballet Academy, Santa Monica, California, USA
Rock School for Dance Education, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
American Ballet Theater, New York City, New York, USA
San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, San Francisco, California, USA
Confidance Dance Intensive, Amsterdam, Netherlands
University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ballet from the University of Utah with an emphasis in performance and teaching. She has danced for companies including Utah Ballet, Dreamscape Dance Theatre, and Daurden Contemporary Dance theatre, as well as various projects in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

She has taught group and private zouk classes for the last 3 years, as well as classical ballet for ages 5 to adult for the last 8 years. She is also a physical therapist with focus in Pilates and dance rehabilitation.
